Small Business Saturday – Saturday 6th of December

We’re proud to be supporting Small Business Saturday UK this year. This grassroots, non-commercial campaign celebrates small business success and encourages people to “shop local” and support businesses in their community. The day itself takes place on the first Saturday of December each year, but the campaign’s aim is to have a lasting positive impact for small businesses. How you can get involved:

• • Offer a special promotion or discount

• • Share your story on social media

Small Business Saturday UK has also launched a new skills support programme to help the UK’s 5.5 million small businesses recover and grow.

Portishead Business Survey – Feedback

Following North Somerset Council’s Portishead Business Survey, we met with the North Somerset Economy Team and Portishead Town Council to review the findings. Key challenges identified:

• • Recruitment and retention of staff

• • Loss of customer base

• • Lack of funding for business investment

• • Difficulty accessing specialist or technical skills

A follow-up meeting with Portishead Town Council is planned to explore these issues further and develop a plan for using the £152,942 Portishead Economic Development Fund.

Google Digital Garage – Weston-super-Mare, Friday 5 September

Google Digital Garage is coming to Weston-super-Mare, offering free workshops and mentoring sessions to help you grow your business online and reach new customers. Trainers will be on hand to provide expert advice on digital skills, marketing, and business growth.
